Refresh your Nest: How to Bring Spring into your Conservatory

The clocks have gone forward again and Spring is finally upon us.  But before we get too excited, it’s not quite warm enough to enjoy the garden just yet…instead why don’t you bring the garden inside?

Out with the Old

They don’t call it spring cleaning for nothing!  Take advantage of the lighter evenings and Spring sunshine and give your conservatory a good clean, putting aside anything which has worn or faded ready to be replaced for the new season.

Wicker or cane furniture is a conservatory favourite, but if you’re not a fan of the traditional style then there are some great Rattan pieces available these days, in a wide range of colours.  The benefit of updating to Rattan is that they can be used outdoors as well, perfect for when it gets warmer and you may want to move into the garden.  It’s hardwearing too and won’t dry out and become brittle in the heat.

Floral Print

It’s not to everyone’s taste, but there are so many varieties of floral print available on the market from big, bold coloured patterns to more delicate flowers, and these will look right at home in your Spring conservatory.

You don’t need to go all over floral; in fact too much floral can be a bad thing!  But a cushion or accessory can work just as well as a feature wall or floral rug.  If you’re crafty, then local textile shops are packed with different prints that you can use to make  your own throws, cushions or curtains with.  A dainty floral voile can dramatically change a boring window!

Conservatory Plants

It’s up to you how far you go with this one.  Some people prefer a “garden room” filled with exotic plants that wouldn’t look out of place in a tropical rainforest, but others enjoy the simplicity of a delicate vase of flowers to bring a sweet smell and bit of colour into the room.

When choosing plants for your conservatory, go for ones with a delicious scent to bring the feeling of the outdoors inside, and of course make sure to check that they are happy in a warm and sunny environment!

On a Budget

You don’t need to spend a fortune to update your conservatory each year; if you are on a budget then a few key purchases for each new Spring will keep the freshness in your room.  Buying new candles and fairy lights is fairly inexpensive, but they are really pretty at sunset and buy you extra hours in the evening to enjoy your outdoor-indoor space.  A new vase, photo frame or cute ornament can also make a difference, and brighten up a dresser or bookshelf.
